At a press event last week announcing the merging of the Ozzfest and Slipknot’s Knotfest, Sharon Osbourne has announced that Ozzy will likely retire before he hits 70. The rock and roll wildman is 67 years old.

“I don’t want Ozzy singing ‘Crazy Train’ at 75,” Sharon said at a press conference to announce this year’s merging of Ozzfest and Knotfest. “I think it’s best you go out before you hit 70, and go out on top. It’s not going to be within the next year, but it’s coming up.”

The Ozzy-Sharon marital drama that has played out in tabloids and on The Talk came to a ceasefire at the event, where Sharon announced the festival. Sharon has managed Ozzy’s career ever since he left Black Sabbath in 1980. It remains to be seen if she’ll still manage him going forward, but as the mastermind behind the Ozzfest (and a well loved figure among metal fans), it was not too surprising that she’d be at the press event, despite their well-documented martial drama.

Ozzy was present at the event and embraced his wife, whom he is apparently no longer living with. He told the audience that he can’t go on forever, and referenced the music greats who have recently passed.

“Everybody’s dying, you know?” he said. “I go, ‘I hope I don’t die tonight!’ It’s like the year of the dying rock star, isn’t it? It’s like one a week.”

Retirement isn’t an unfamiliar idea for the Prince of Darkness, who has almost retired more than once in his career. Earlier this year he had some advice for retirees:

“You have to have something to retire to,” he told Radio.com. “If you want to go f—ing mountain climbing or sky-diving or walking, [do that]. But if you sit on your a–, you’ll die! You have nothing to get out of bed for! If you sit on your butt watching the f—ing TV all day, everyday, your body will go ‘OK, I’m not being used anymore.’ That happens a lot, I think!”
