Keith Emerson to be Honored with Memorial Concert

Keith Emerson‘s death shocked the music world last month. Now the life and legacy of the legendary Emerson Lake and Palmer keyboardist will be celebrated through a memorial concert.

The Official Keith Emerson Tribute will be held on May 28 at Los Angeles’ El Rey Theatre, and will feature performances from Keith Emerson Band, Eddie Jobson (U.K./Roxy Music), Brian Auger (Oblivion Express), Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr’s All-Star Band), CJ Vanston (Spinal Tap) and Toto’s Steve Porcaro and Steve Lukather. Additional artists include Ed Roth (Annie Lennox), Jonathan Sindelman (Alan White Band), Jeff “Skunk” Baxter (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers), Mick Mahan (Pat Benatar), Troy Luccketta (Tesla), Joe Travers (Zappa’s Universe), Travis Davis (Keith Emerson Band, CTA), Mike Wallace (Boy’s Club) and Marc Bonilla (Toy Matinee, Keith Emerson Band).

Tickets for the concert can be ordered on the theater’s website.

In addition to the concert, Emerson’s former bandmate Carl Palmer has planned his own tribute to his late bandmate. Pictures At An Exhibition – A Tribute To Keith Emerson will take place June 24 at Miami’s Olympia Theater. The memorial concert will feature band performances, a photo exhibition and contemporary dance shows. The show will be filmed for broadcast and DVD release.

Emerson died at the age of 71 last month from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
