Cheap Trick will be part of a star-studded cast of inductees when they are enshrined in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame on April 8th, joining other luminaries Deep Purple, Chicago, Steve Miller, and NWA.
Founding member, lead guitarist, and songwriter Rick Nielsen called into Scott Shannon in the Morning to talk about the Cheap Trick’s induction and more.
“How about that.” Nielson exclaimed. “That’s pretty cool, hah?”
Scott, perhaps thinking that the guys all crash in the same Rock N’ Roll hotel, wondered if everyone got all giddy when they received the good news. Rick explained that, since the band doesn’t all live together (sorry if we burst any bubbles there) everyone just called each other to congratulate.
The band’s hometown of Rockford, IL certainly got excited about the induction news — they’re naming a street after Rick! “They’re naming one of the dirty alleys, putting my name on it,” laughed Rick. “So when I’m down and out I got a place to go sleep!”
