Bad Company Rumored to be Recording New Album with Paul Rodgers

By Jeff Cornell

Rumors are swirling that legendary rockers Bad Company are recording a new album with iconic singer Paul Rodgers. If it’s true, it will mark the group’s first full album in over 34 years featuring Rodgers on vocals.

The rumors are courtesy of Mediamass, who cite an anonymous source as saying that they have about eight songs recorded. “It’s still in the early stages,” the source stated. “They got security on the doors to ensure no-one hears a whisper.”

Bad Company’s original line-up featuring Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke, Boz Burrell and Paul Rodgers released six studio albums between 1974 and 1982. Their eponymous self-titled debut features the hit single “Can’t Get Enough,” “Rock Steady,” “Ready for Love,” “Movin’ On” and the title track “Bad Company.”

Rodgers left the band following 1982’s Rough Diamonds to focus on his solo career. The band played on recording four albums with Brian Howe and two more with Robert Hart on vocals.

Rodgers returned to the band in 1999 to release The Original Bad Company Anthology, which boasted four new recordings including “Tracking Down A Runaway”, “Hammer Of Love” and “Hey, Hey.” The band hit the road to support the anthology with opening act David Lee Roth. They have toured off and on since until original bassist Boz Burrell died in 2006.

Meanwhile, an advertisement in the Winter 2016 issue of Red Hot Rock magazine claims that Rodgers, Ralphs and Kirke will tour at some point in 2016.
