B.B. King Hospitalized, But Doing ‘Better’ According to His Daughter

89-year-old blues legend B.B. King was hospitalized yesterday, according to a report by CBS News.

However, The Los Angeles Times quoted King’s daughter, Claudette, as saying that her father was suffering from dehydration caused by his Type II diabetes, and that he’s now doing “much better.”

Last year, King had to cancel a number of shows after being evaluated by a doctor who diagnosed him with dehydration.

King’s first single, “Miss Martha King,” was released in 1949 on Bullet Records. A 15-time GRAMMY winner, he has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Blues Hall of Fame, and is a Kennedy Center Honoree as well as a recipient of the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s Polar Music Prize.
