Kathleen Hanna, Adam Horovitz, Cheap Trick Added to Joan Jett Tribute Concert

This year’s Little Kids Rock Benefit concert has just added a few more artists to an already packed bill.

The event, which will pay tribute to Joan Jett, recently announced that Cheap Trick, Mike Ness of Social Distortion and Kathleen Hanna featuring Ad-Rock as additions to their list of performers (Billie Joe Armstrong of Green DayAlice CooperDarlene Love and Glen Hansard were already on the bill).

Besides Jett, Jake Clemons will also be honored at the event. Clemons, nephew of the late E Street Band saxophone player Clarence Clemons, is a singer/songwriter who is also now part of E Street’s horn section.

Ad-Rock, aka Adam Horovitz, has not performed often in the years since his bandmate Adam Yauch’s passing in 2012, ending the career of their group, Beastie Boys.

Little Kids Rock is an organization dedicated to restoring and revitalizing music education in disadvantaged public schools. Per their press release announcing the event, the gala “will honor Joan Jett as the ‘Rocker of the Year’ for the impact that her career, influence, and music have had on the charity’s ‘Modern Band’ music program, which equips public school music teachers with the instruments, training, and curricular resources they need to teach popular musical styles that kids know and love, like rock, hip hop, country, blues and funk.”
