Bon Scott Biopic in the Works, Against AC/DC’s Wishes

While an authorized biopic would be the preferred way to tell a life story on film, recent flicks on the lives of Jimi Hendrix and the band Judas Priest have paved the way for more unauthorized biopics to be made. Next on the list: Bon Scott.

In case you don’t recall, Bon Scott was the frontman for AC/DC from 1974-1980, until he passed away under suspicious circumstances after a night of heavy drinking in London. Some conspiracy theorists think foul play might have been involved, though he is officially listed as having died from acute alcohol poisoning.

Now, film producer Rob Liotti is determined to bring this story to the big screen, whether the surviving members of the Australian rock royalty approve or not.

“The Hendrix and Priest films clear the way for this project — although I felt confident all along,” Liotti said (via Ultimate Classic Rock). “We have a First Amendment right to tell this story, and we have the ability to utilize the Fair Use Doctrine in assisting us to do so. We’re trying to educate the public about this guy’s life and tribulations. What the hell is the problem with that?”
