Sarah’s Beer Blog: Opening Night Edition

Ah, baseball and beer. Were there ever two things better suited to each other?

The Mariners are off to an a$&-kicking start to the 2014 season, but if that’s not enough motivation to get you down to Safeco this season… how about some new beer on tap? Yep, thought that might get your attention.

Cask ale is making its debut at the stadium this year along with some mouthwatering new menu items. (Click HERE for the delectable details.)

The ballpark is introducing ‘Firkin Fridays’ this season at The ‘Pen. Here’s the deal: the keg gets tapped one hour before first pitch, once it’s empty, that’s it. (Firkins are quarter barrels, so they only hold about 72 pints. Basically, don’t wait too long or you’ll miss out.) The first Firkin Friday is April 11 and Skagit River will be on tap.

Sarah valiantly “stepped up to the plate” (ahem) and volunteered to do some cask ale taste-testing down at Safeco.
