Craigslist Coke Machine Dispenses Rock History: $500

A recording studio engineer friend of mine has just listed an item on Craigslist with more than a little Seattle rock and roll history behind it: A coke machine that spent many a year in the engineer’s shop at Bad Animals recording studio. The building started it’s life in music as Kaye-Smith Studios established by the actor Danny Kaye and his business partner (radio station owner Lester Smith, with whom he was also original co-owner of the Seattle Mariners), where Bachman Turner Overdrive, Heart, and many other bands did major albums. It was later bought by Ann and Nancy Wilson, who did a major remodel, rechristening it after their 1987 album Bad Animals as one of the best recording facilities in the world. Albums from Alice In Chains, B.B. King, The Deftones, Neil Young, Johnny Cash, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, Soundgarden, R.E.M., Mad Season, and of course  Heart were made there before they sold it to operator Steve Lawson, who’s since sold it himself. As current beverage dispenser owner Kelly Lichtenwaldt points out, the machine easily dispenses soft drinks, but also fits Alice In Chains‘ favorite recording beer Rolling Rock. It would be the perfect addition to any rock fan’s “man cave”, for the low asking price of $500. His ad is quite funny, read it here.
