Twelve years after the release of their last album, Down On The Upside, Seattle’s own Soundgarden returns with King Animal on November 13. A preview of one of the new songs, “Worse Dreams,” is available at the band’s website.

Soundgarden’s reunion has been going on for a while: after frontman Chris Cornell tweeted “School’s back in session” on January 1, 2010, the band headlined that summer’s Lollapalooza.  In 2011, they toured, and earlier this year, they released a brand new song, “Live To Rise” from the soundtrack to The Avengers.

Soundgarden doesn’t have any upcoming dates planned, but you can catch their performance of “Fell On Black Days” from this summer’s Hard Rock Calling Festival in London this weekend on VH1 and Palladia.

Meanwhile, on Labor Day weekend, half of Soundgarden will be at the Made In America Festival in Philadelphia. Chris Cornell is performing a solo acoustic set, while Pearl Jam (which shares drummer Matt Cameron with Soundgarden) will headline. Both acts perform on the festival’s second day, Sunday September 2, leading fans to hope for a reunion of Temple Of The Dog, the supergroup featuring Cornell, Cameron, and Pearl Jam’s Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament and Mike McCready.
