Ronnie Wood may be gearing up for his second induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend as a member of the Faces, but that doesn’t mean the Rolling Stones guitarist isn’t thinking ahead to the next album with Keith, Mick and co.
The Stones have made it clear that they won’t be hitting the road to celebrate their 50th anniversary until what would technically be their 51st year in 2013. But it’s not all dormant for the Stones, as Wood revealed Monday (April 10): They’ll get together this month to “throw some ideas around in the studio.”
The purpose of the studio time is to “just get the feel again,” says Wood, who compares the band’s yet-to-be-announced 50th anniversary tour to training for the Olympics. “You’ve got to go into training. So we’re going to go into training.”
Plans to hit the studio shouldn’t exactly surprise Stones diehards, as guitarist Keith Richards suggested as much last month to Rolling Stone. “We’ll just get the boys back together again then and maybe cut a side,” he said. “I’ve got plenty in the locker here, but it’s not on tape.”
