Queen Quitarist Brian May Plays with My Chemical Romance at Reading Festival in England

In case you didn’t get the memo, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Queen[/lastfm] guitarist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Brian May[/lastfm] is a hot commodity amongst modern music artists. The guitar great jumped on stage with Jersey alt-rock band [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]My Chemical Romance[/lastfm] on Friday at the Reading Festival in England.

May’s appearance across the pond came just two days prior to joining [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lady Gaga[/lastfm]’s alter-ego “Jo Calderone” on stage at the 2011 MTV VMAs on Sunday. The astrophysicist (that’s right, be MORE impressed) joined MCR on stage for a rendition of the Queen hit “We Will Rock You” before accompanying them for one of their signature songs, “The Black Parade.”

My Chem front man [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Gerard Way[/lastfm] spoke to NME about the similar experiences Queen and his band had at the Reading Festival in the past.

“I wrote an email to Brian after getting his email off [producer] Rob Cavallo. There was this story that you [Queen] played a show in Paris and got booed off and Freddie [Mercury] said, ‘We’re gonna come back and be the biggest band in the world’. And after what happened to us at Reading in 2006 [when they were bottled], people would ask us, ‘Are you gonna do that again? [play the festival]’ and I’d go, ‘Not unless we’re headlining it.'”

Where will Brian May show up next?

We don’t know, but these surprises are very pleasant. Hopefully they won’t be the last.
