In addition to finally releasing the SMiLE sessions from 1966-’67, the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Beach Boys[/lastfm] will be taking the leap into the 21st century by teaming up with Tongal.com to produce the first official music videos for “Good Vibrations” and “Heroes And Villains.”
Fans of the Beach Boys will be able to collaborate and create the official music videos themselves, with a chance to win big prizes.
Tongal.com will develop the videos in two phases. The first, called the “concept” phase, begins today (August 30th) and runs until September 15th. When you head over to their website and check out the contest, they even give you a countdown clock.
Ya know, to add a little pressure.
As described by Tonga, the concept phase “calls for fans to conceptualize the music video for ‘Heroes and Villains’ or ‘Good Vibrations’ in 250 characters or less.”
That means get creative, but not too wordy.
Five of those concepts from phase one will be chosen upon by Tongal users until one is chosen. A music video will then be produced based on that concept. “The video can be animated or live-action, trippy or classic – it can be whatever the fans want, as long as it’s their own,” Tongal describes in a press release.
Top submissions will be eligible for prizes, which will include an autographed custom Hobie longboard, CD sets, signed lithographs, and hundreds to thousands in cash.
Get those creative juices flowing by jammin’ to “Good Vibrations!”
