[pullquote quote="...a little growly." credit="James Franco on his singing"]If it weren’t shocking enough that [lastfm link_type="artist_info"]Cher[/lastfm]‘s Golden Globe-winning You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me from Burlesque was completely snubbed by the Oscars, now comes word that renaissance man and Oscar co-host James Franco has had his dreams of a vocal career shot down by the Academy.
Franco just joined the Twittersphere last week and he’s making good use of the social networking site as he gears up to co-host the Oscars with Anne Hathaway.
Hi everybody, here I am on Twitter! This is my FIRST tweet… http://say.ly/CgT9a1—

On Monday he posted an audio snippet of his You Haven’t Seen The Last Of Me rehearsal. The post was removed but reposted again on Tuesday and it’s possibly one of the scariest pieces of audio you will ever hear. It’s no wonder that the Academy put the kabosh on the performance (if it were ever actually going to be performed in the first place and wasn’t all a hoax).
Take a listen, but you may want to make sure that you’re alone. I’ve been playing it all day and people in the office are not nearly as amused as I am. It’s audio only video. Click play and sit back and listen in utter bemusement.
Franco, more than likely facetiously, has claimed that he’s “upset for me and Cher” over the exclusion of the number from the awards ceremony. Hey, he’s an actor, an artist, a writer, a film maker…but he’s NOT a vocalist. He does have a great sense of humor though and we’re rooting for his hosting performance come Sunday night.
Cher also tweeted her disappointment in the Burlesque dismissal:
James Franco was going to dress up in the

Take a listen to Cher’s chart topping dance version to cleanse Franco’s “growly” off-key singing from your aural memory.
