Original [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Chicago[/lastfm] lead guitarist Terry Kath would be celebrating his 65th birthday today, were he still with us. While it is true that Terry was increasingly unhappy with the direction of his band (Bassist [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Peter Cetera[/lastfm] later said had Terry lived he certainly would have been the first one to quit), he had gained a great deal of weight, and was drinking more, Kath’s 1978 death 8 days shy of his 32nd birthday was entirely accidental. He was at a party at the home of a crew member, and despite being told that putting a gun up to his head and pulling the trigger was unsafe, replied with those famous last words, “Don’t worry, it’s not loaded”.  A shame, he was one of the greatest guitarists in rock…one of Hendrix’s favorites in fact.  Check him out back in the day.
