The Chelsea Hotel is where Sid Vicious’ girlfriend Nancy was killed and where Bob Dylan wrote “Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.” Numerous artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison spent time there too.

And now, it’s up for sale…

“The history itself makes the hotel what it is,” said spokesman, Loren Riegelhaupt. “Anybody who’s going to be looking to buy the Chelsea knows that the Chelsea is the Chelsea, and there’s nothing you want to do to change what the Chelsea is.”

The Chelsea was built in 1883 and it features 12 floors and 250 hotel rooms. Writers such as Arthur Clarke, Thomas Wolfe and Arthur Miller stayed at the Chelsea, and so did Andy Warhol.

If the walls in the Chelsea Hotel could talk…
